LAWTON, WILLETTS, BRIGHTON  Jan 2007 (102828)
I am looking for decendants/ancestors of the above families. Jabez Lawton b.1852 was my Great, Grandfather. He married Martha Willetts b.1852 on the 18th August, 1872, at the Parish Church, Moxley. They had 3 children, Samuel b.1874, George b.1876 (my grandfather) and Martha b.1878. Very tragically Martha, their mother, died 3 days after giving birth to baby Martha. Jabez re-married in 1885. His wife was Ann M Brighton. They married at St. Barts. Church, Wednesbury. I believe that Ann died about 1889, as on the 1891 Census, it states Jabez as being a widower. Any info. on any of these three families would be much appreciated. Many thanks - hoping to hear from you.
Arm- Cook  Jul 2006 (85323)
I am tracing my Family Tree and researching my mother's family. I have discovered that my Grandmother Mary Jane, was born out of wedlock. She was born on the 15th December, 1879 and her mothers name was Mary Arm, but there was no father listed. However, on Mary Jane's marriage certificate of 1899 she names her father as being John Cook. I think I have traced John on the 1881 Census, as his addres is only a couple of streets away from where Mary Arm lived, and he is the only John Cook listed in the area, plus he is the right age. His mother was Selena Cook a widow, aged 48 years. Her childen were listed as: John aged 25 - Coal Miner. Samuel aged 17 - Coal Miner Walter Cook - Laborer. Harriett aged 11 - scholar. George aged 6 - scholar. Hoping someone may be able to help me piece a bit more of my Family Tree 'jigsaw' together.

Their son Enoch was my husband's Great Grandfather. Enoch married Mary Bailey on the 10/6/1871 at St. John's Church, Wednesbury, Enoch was 24 and Mary 17. On the marriage certificate it states that Mary was 'Illegitimate'. The had 9 children : Enoch b. 11/10/1872 (believe he died sometime before 1881 as he wasn't on the 1881 Census). Benjamin b.28/7/1873, John b.2/9/1874 - died 16/3/1895, Charles Edward b.1878, Henry b.1882, Winnefred b.1884, Florence b.1885, Joseph b.1889-died 17/1/1934 (he was my husband's Grandfather), John b.1897. On the 1881 Census Enoch & Mary were living at 13 Cobden Street, Wednesbury, also living there were their sons Benjamin-aged 8, John-aged 6, Charles-aged 3, and 2 lodgers, Edward Eagles aged-17, and William Eagles aged 18. Griffiths  Sep 2005 (62811)
I am looking for information about David Griffiths b. 1845 - 1849 , the year of birth differing slightly among census years. He was married to Selina and had seven children before leaving for the US in 1888/89. I have been unable to identify Selina's maiden name or obtain the names of David's parents. I found an 1851 census record of David and Martha Griffiths with a son David who is of the correct age, but I cannot establish a firm connection. Any help would be appreciated.
