Looking to find further details of James Hutton b. 1808-11 in Scotland. Have lots of details about him after he left Scotland with 1st Regiment of Royal Dragoons aged 17, then Mntd Guard with Coastguard at Hastings (joined 1832 in London) and his death there in 1953, m.Theodocia Samuels BUT can't find where he was actually born in Scotland so stuck at this point. Huttons eventually end up in Poole, Dorset. Any help?

MY GRANDFATHER WILLIAM A BUTTON WAS BORN 1899 TO FREDERICK AND ELIZA BUTTON AROUND THE EAST HILL AREA OF HASTINGS. THER EMAIN EMPLOYMENT WAS HAWKERS OF WATETRCRESS. I DESPERATELY NEED TO FIND INFORMATION ON WILLIAMS SIBLING. HE HAD 1 BROTHER FREDERICK BUTTON AND 3 SISTERS ANNIE, NELLIE AND PHOEBE. ALSO LIVING WITH THEM WAS ELIZA'S SISTER PHOEBE BROWN WHO WAS BELIEVED TO BE APPROXIMATLEY 19 IN 1901. I HAVE A FAIR BIT OF INFOPRMATION APART FROM THE SISTERS THAT I'D BE HAPPY TO SHARE. I AM LOOKING FOR ANY DECENDNTS FROM THIS BUTTON FAMILY OR THE WATERCRESS PEOPLE OF HASTINGS THE ADDRESSES WERE 10 BOURNE STREET, 2 JENERS COTTAGES AND SOME LINES HAVE POINTED TO SCRIPTES BUILDINGS. I am trying to trace my Family that orginated from the Old Town of Hastings. My Grandfather was Henry Richard Pepper who moved to Brede. Still there in 1901 aged 18, with mother Eleanor (Elanor) I dont know what happened to him after that, cant find any war record, marriage etc. Also, does the name Lauristone have any local significance, it was not a family name. Can anyone tell me about Ore Place in the late 19th century. My grandfather lived in the Lodge Gate there in 1891 as a boy, his father George Wanstall was groom and gardener there. Who owned Ore Place then?

My father (Ronald Hope) spent most of his childhood in the "home for waifs and strays" in Hastings in the 1930s. Has anyone got any information about the home or does anyone remember Ronald.
