William was my great grandfather. He rose from being a dipper in the cotton trade in Hapton to a grocer and draper in Burnley. I want to find out what became of his son James Bannister b 1862 in Clow Bridge, Hapton; I have seen a report that he emigrated to Australia after 1881 and became a successful sheep farmer, but I have not been able to find him.
John Howorth's book.  Revised 20Apr 2007 (107844)
My ancestor's brother John Howorth, was a well known Methodist in Burnley in the 1870's/80's, and was Mayor one year. He started the Mechanic's Institute, and wrote a book for the boys, called I seem to remember, "Of common things". (about how things work). We had a copy in the family at one time, but nobody knows where it is now. It may have been printed privately, as I can't find it through any publisher. If anybody knows of this book, do, please let me know.

Mary Ann Milner, early 1800's  Sep 2005 (63050)
Mary Ann Milner is my great-great-grandmother. She married James Eastwood in 1838 in Burnley (he was a blacksmith) I know that she gave birth to Moses and Elisabeth Eastwood in 1842 and 1844. Moses was my great-grandfather and I have much information about him from that point on but I have almost nothing on his parents, James Eastwood and Mary Ann Milner. Would appreciate any help or suggestions.
