Cathey family, Bonhill/Cardross Dumbarton  Apr 2009 (156664)
Hi - posting from sunny Townsville in North Queensland. Following the genealogical trail of the Catheys. It has lead me to Dumbarton. Family of George Cathey & Mary McIntyre. A number of their children (daughters) born in Bonhill/Cardross in 1830s but one of their sons, my great, great grandfather, George Hamilton Cathey appears to have been born in Brandenburg, Germany. I thought it was a typo in the records at first but further checking seems to confirm his birth in Germany. Is their any account of Bonhill people going to Germany for work - or perhaps for some other reason? George Cathey's parents were Samuel Cathey and Sarah Hamilton. Mary McIntyre's parents were Robert McIntyre - mother unknown. Thanking you Trish
Frize Hughes  Jan 2006 (71870)
James Hughes married Maggie Frize 9 Octobet 1896 in the chapel in Alexandria, both sets of parents Irish immigrants Thomas Hughes, Sarah McCormick, William Frize, Mary Bridget McDade. Do you have any more information ????
Donald McCallum m. Mary Campbell  Apr 2004 (31637)
in Bonhill Parish in 1844. Donald was a gamekeeper at time of marriage. My line - son Dugald b c1851 don't know where, he turns up in Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire in 1873 m. Janet Semple. I have drawn a blank on Donald and Mary. If anyone is willing to do a lookup on Bonhill census records for 1851 to see if they are still in area etc. would be grateful. Or if you descend from offspring or relative of Donald and Mary what have you got?
