A Frank Middleton from Johnstone around 1968/69/70 had connections with Halifax, West Yorkshire and in particular with a lady named June Pearson and gave birth to his daughter around that time. He had a brother who died quite young and in tragic circumstances. If anyone knows of him please get in touch. Tall with dark hair and dark skin.

William Weir and Isabella Keith were the parents of George Wharrie Weir born 8/12/1839 in Greenoch Old or West. Any information about his siblings would be appreciated. George died at sea on the 'Brambletye' in Nov 1885 when my grandmother was 18mths old. He was my grandmothers father. Her mother was Mary McIntyre. My grandmother came to Australia in 1925.

Searching for Richard Hendry (Henry) and his wife Isabella Knight Scrymgeour. Richard was the son of Nathaniel and Martha (nee Wylie). Isabella was the daughter of James and Margaret (nee Knight) Scrymgeour. Both sets of parents are listed as deceased on their marriage cert dated 1861. Richard and Isabella's children born in Greenock (Middle or New Parish) Janet b.1862(died 1865), Martha Wylie b.1864, Jessie b.1866, Richard b.1869 & Margaret Smith Kerr b.1871. They emigrated to Newfoundland, Canada about 1872/73 and children born there were James Scrimger b.1874, William b.1877, Charles, b.1880, Isabella b.(?) and Jean b.(?). Any connections out there?

Andrew Cowan writes that his Uncle Will Cowan went to Brisbane Austrailia-- Annie Cowan to Perth Australia(son Cowan Cambell), Jake Cowan-- Paisley. In Troon, his Uncle Dave and Aunt Maggie Harper? rented boats out. Uncle Andrew Reid owned a tailor shop in Irvine. Uncle Robert and Aunt Maggie Harper lived in Paisley, Scotland. Duncan MacDougal Cowan married Janet MacNeil Spence(who was born around 1884 in USA-mom didn't like it here& went back to Scotland- Rutherford Glen. Janet returned to Philadelphia, Pa. USA around age 14)

Can anyone kindly give me some information on this area, from which many of my relatives hail. The map does not identify Kilellan - is it now a part of greater Houston ? Any local info greatly appreciated ! Nov.06. Have managed to trace Killelan Church - it lies roughly East of Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire, roughly half way between Kilmalcolm and Houston. What is the status of this church now ? Does it still have a Pastor, or is it closed. What do you know of the area, please ? What do you know of the church and the place's history in the early 1800s ?
