Looking for information on and descendants of Alexander Stewart, born about 1811 in Inverness-shire, Scotland and Rachel Ferguson, born 20 OCT 1828 in Scotland. Children were Elisabeth (Stuart), John, Sarah, Jessie, Alexe, Leriena, Anna Belle, and Alexandrina all born in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada with exception to Elisabeth. Elisabeth was born in Scotland.
Interested in any information about Charles McBean (b. 1786-1790 approx.) in Moy , who later married Helen Murray from Liberton and by mid-1850s was living in Edinburgh. Was a butler at Mellerstain, Roxburghshire at some point.
red mail Jessie and Marjory McIntosh
Marjory McIntosh was my great-grandmother. She was born somewhere in Inverness-shire about 1864, and was the illegitimate daughter of Jessie McIntosh (b. about 1829). According to the wedding certificate, Marjory's "reputed" father is named Alexander McRae. I cannot find birth or death records for either of the McIntosh ladies, though I know Marjory married Alexander Davidson and died in 1944. Jessie was still alive at the time of the 1911 census, living with her daughter. I would like to learn more about the family, especially Jessie. Thanks.
McLellan McDougall Hobbes Sehly Writer
Looking for relatives of Archibald MCLELLAN, born c1806, and married c 1840 in Inverness Scotland Christina MCLELLAN, born c1810 Inverness, the daughter of Donald MCLELLAN, fisherman, and Annie MCDOUGALL. The newly-weds sailed to New Zealand in 1840 on the 'Blenheim', had 2 children in NZ - Annie & John, then went to Australia and settled in the Bathurst district of NSW where Isabella, Mary & Christina were born. Archibald died in 1867 in Molong NSW and may have been a schoolteacher. Christina (mother) died near Rockley NSW in 1895. Further information welcomed particularly the names of Archibald's parents.
School records for Merkinch/Rosehaugh/South Kessock area.
Hi, does anyone have access to school registers for these areas of Inverness, from about 1925 to about 1944? My mother lived on Huntley Street, then South Drive near the Culduthel T.B. Hospital. Her name was Catherine Forbes McLEAY. She had an older brother and sister. I would love to find some record of her school years if anyone can help. Thankyou. Linda.
red mail Sinclair & Mackenzie - Inverness to West Virginia c.1804
Robert SINCLAIR (1772-1831) and Nancy MACKENZIE (1772-1850) were born in Inverness and died in Preston County, West Virginia (now Virginia). Their youngest child--Daniel SINCLAIR (1794-1854)--was born in Inverness, and the next youngest--Hugh SINCLAIR (1803-1891)--was born in Scotland, but their third child--Alexander SINCLAIR (1804-1891) was born in West Virginia, so the family would have removed to the US c. 1803-1804. Their fourth child--Marjory SINCLAIR(1805-1870) was born in Allegany, Maryland, but the remaining children were born in Hampshire, WV: Robert SINCLAIR (1809-1890), Hector SINCLAIR (1812-1896), Jane SINCLAIR (1814- ), and Nancy SINCLAIR (1816-1894). I am looking for their family in Scotland.
