Catherine Forbes McLeay
Catherine was from Inverness, Scotland, born 1928. She was sent to live or work in London at the age of 12 to 16, between 1940 and 1944, after her mother died. Does anyone know why, where or with whom? She was eventually traced by her brother Jim, who deserted from the army to find her, and took her to live in Sheffield where she married my father,John Softley, and lived there for the rest of her life. Any info. about this part of her life would be so welcome, as census records are not available for these years. Linda.

GOODWIN, CALCUTT - Westminster/Chelsea/Woolwich/Marlebone/Coombe Oxfordshire
Seeking connections to John GOODWIN (b.1811 in Hemingford Grey, Huntingtonshire) who married Keturah CALCUTT (b1813 Combe, Oxfordshire). John was originally in the Grenadier Guards then later in the Royal Artillery. He was based at Woolwich in 1859 as a 'Barracks Seargent'. Their children were born between 1836 and 1859: Jane, Caroline, Mary Ann, Eva Matilda, Elizabeth, John, Fanny, Louisa and Charles who was also in the Grenadier Guards. Most of their children were born in central London (Westminster area). I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has any possible connection or additional information.

red mail FitzHerbert Sparks?
Has anyone heard of, or have information on, a FITZHERBERT SPARKS that was working as a steward for St. Bartholmew's Hospital in 1848? I spotted his name (as a witness) on an internet site but I can't find any other entry anywhere mentioning his name. His name, occupation and date suggest he may be a (previously) unknown relative.

PRATT, Pascal Fitz, 1852 - c. 1935
Searching for information post-1889 on Pascal Fitz PRATT, born in 1852 in New York, USA. In 1889 he embezzled a large sum from the bank where he worked in Anoka, Minnesota, and fled across Canada to England, abandoning a young wife and four children. He is believed to have lived in the London vicinity until his death in the 1930's, and is very likely to have remarried.
