MORGAN
Trying to trace an ancestor - Lilian May MORGAN- who was a house/parlour maid (domestic) in WYKE, Gillingham, Dorset in 1930's. Are there any large estates/houses within this village that she may have worked in please? She had a daughter (Daphne Mary) in 1937 at this address - Cennick House, 11 St. Alban,s Avenue, Bournemouth which seems to have been a Free church home for unmarried mothers at this time. I have found a death record for a Lilian May Morgan in Jan 1985 (age 68), burial at Gillingham but it states 'no name' for father and mother. Many thanks!

harry victor dowling
I have just finished a tree on the Dowling family for my friend's 50th wedding. (this is now in her possesion)I have all info, except his grand-father was Harry Victor Dowling . born in Weymouth dorset. but no real confirmation of parantage. Have found a print-out on ancestry of a birth. When he married Edith Horder they are on the census and it again states born in Weymouth. Some-one on Ancestry has told me there was some-one, a long time ago. who said Harry was fostered. Have found a Harry Dowling with Joliffe family. Ten years later still with them but name is Harry Joliffe. ten years later the same. He then married to Edith Horder. (no fathers name) (I have marriage cert.) and through to my friend now, but I still can only find a birth for him to an Edith Dowling, (single. I am sure this would be his mother.) Is there some-one that also has this connection and perhaps can solve his birth mother. Other-wise I will take a gamble and send for birth cert of a Harry V. Dowling, born Weymouth, correct year as stated on census. Carol

red mail Trowbridge surname
Hi, I'm looking for three Trowbridge brothers who would have immigrated to Newfoundland, Canada in the early 1800's. I'm not sure if they would have done so together or at separate times. It's not verified but I believe their names to be Thomas, John and Samuel. Actually any information or hints of any Trowbridges who immigrated to Canada, Newfoundland in particular, about that time would help. My gr. grandfather is Samuel T Trowbridge, born abt. 1845 and the stories that I've heard is that his father came to Newfoundland directly from England, along with his two brothers. Now this may have been another generation back, not sure. A lot of the Trowbridge ancestry in Newfoundland seemed to come from the Dorset area, but I'm not sure about my family.

red mail Rockland, Dorset. (Brooks)
My direct ancestor is William Brooks, born in Rockland, Dorset in 1824 or 1825. His occupation was a plasterer. At the time of his marriage to Elizabeth Cotton in 1846, he was living at Coombe St, Exeter...although they swiftly moved to London. William's father was also named William, and he was a tanner. Im having problems finding William's family.
