James Fry, born 2nd August 1887 at Brendon Hill Cottage later moved to Brendon Hill Farm with his parents and 9 siblings. In 1911 he married Eva Ann Warren and shortly after they moved to Castle Hill Farm. Jim was farm manager for Tom White, and early in the 1930`s his brother George returned from working as a coalminer in Pontypridd and he stayed with Jim and Eva,and worked on the farm. I was born in 1932 and in the early 1940's they moved to Huish Champflower.
red mail Castle Hill Farm
My x3G father William Tarr born 1817 married first wife Mary Anne Surridge 1839 and had 5 children. He farmed Castle Hill farm at Withiel Florey up until his death in 1893. His mother Jane died 1853 there as well. If any one can throw any light on further info I would be thrilled to know more.
red mail BAKER family, Withiel Florey
My 4G Grandparents, William BAKER and Mary MITCHELL (who were married on 26 Feb 1818 at Withycombe, Somerset) had their first child - my 3G Grandfather, John BAKER - at Withycombe in 1818. However, the BAKERs moved to Withiel Florey soon after, and had at least four more children there: William BAKER (1823); Mary BAKER (1826); Robert BAKER (1828); and Thomas BAKER (1830). My John BAKER (born in 1818 at Withycombe) lived with his wife, Mary FARMER, at Withiel Florey for many years and they had a number of their children there. John's sister, Mary BAKER (born 1826, Withiel Florey) married James VICKERY and they and their family eventually moved to Lancashire. Thomas BAKER (born 1828, Withiel Florey) married Elizabeth TUDBALL in 1863, and they and their children lived variously at Winsford, Brompton Regis and Luxborough, Somerset. If anyone has a link to any of these families, I'm always happy to share info.
