Hi. I am researching my ggmother Ellen O'Neil (Mourning) She was born in Co. Down Ireland and moved to Whitehaven with her family around 1870. She married Luke O'Neil. I am trying to trace the Mourning family. I think different branches may have different spellings such as Murnin, or Mournen. I would love to find out more about her family and be able to go further back with her roots. Thanks

I am looking for anyone related to my Grandma. Her maiden name was Gilooly. My grandmas name was Helen She had a number of sisters. They lived in Cleater Moor, in Whitehaven, which was a mining village at that time. The surname Gilooly may be spelt differently. I am not sure about dates, but possibly my Grandma would have been born in 1890 or around that time, as she died when I was young.

Looking for information on Benjamin Cowie, b Scotland c1798 and his Irish wife Ann. Their first two children were born in Ireland. Possibly Dublin, (Benjamin 1823 and Sarah 1826) but not confirmed. The other two children were born in Whitehaven. Jane in 1834 and Robert 1837. Interested in finding out where and when Benjamin snr was born and also the birth place and surname of his wife. The Cowie's were also recorded as Cowan, Cowen and Cowey.

His parents were Thomas and Mary Milburn - nee Kirkwood who married in Newcastle in 1905. He had lots of brothers and sisters, Kitty, Rose, Thomas, James, Joseph, Ann and Terry. henry gilpin married mary forsythe at cleator in 1830, they had 3 sons who emigrated. Robert Gilpin married Mary Jane Bowden in 1856, David Gilpin married Jane Taylor in 1855, Joseph married Sarah Balfour in 1861. Robert,David and families emigrated in 1866 to Australia where they lived in Newcastle, NSW. Their brother Joseph and his family went to Canada, then later lived in USA. Henry Gilpin later remarried in Cockermouth to Anne Mylechreest in 1856. Would there be any descendants of these people still living in the area of Whitehaven, Cleator or St Bees, Cumberland

I'm looking for more information on the parents (John McGill & Elizabeth Roberts) of my ggf William McGill who was born 24 September 1847 at Whitehaven, Cumberland and died at Liverpool, Lancashire. William married Ellen Whittaker who was born 1855 at Preston, Lancashire. He was a mariner's mate, a ship's Captain and a stevedore. In 1901, he resided at Sandon Road, Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool. My ggf William's older brother, John, was adopted by the Mormon's at age 15 and moved to Utah.
