Williams and Crabb family
My ancestor Robert John WILLIAMS (born Gosport 1872) and married Mary Elizabeth STOKES (born 1875) in 1893. On documents relating to Robert Williams military service his mother is named as Hannah Williams. On his marriage certificate his father is listed at Charles Williams. I have previously understood that his parents were William WILLIAMS (born Weymouth 1851) and Emma Jane CRABB (born Bridport 1849). I had several census returns that support the Weymouth / Bridport connection. I am wondering whether someone has an explanation.

red mail The Davage family
I am researching the Davages of Dorset, particularly Weymouth. There is an ancient family legend that they owned half of Weymouth but that the old family bible was lost in a river (????) and therefore they lost their claim to the town. Not sure I believe this but if this rings any bells with anyone, please get in touch and help me figure this out! They also have a connection to the Whittle family (also of Dorset) who apparently owned Fleet House in Weymouth. Again, not sure I really believe this either. Thanks
