red mail Catherine and Thomas Smith
I am looking for family around the West Derby area of Liverpool. My grandfather and his sister were sent to Canada as Home Children in approx 1910, when my grandfather was 10 years old. Catherine was a little younger than him. They were split up at the port in Quebec, never to see each other again. Their father was called Samuel and was a labourer. Does anyone know of the Smiths of West Derby, in 1900 who sent two of their younger children to Canada. Possibly by Dr Barnardos, or the Waif and Strays Society. They were a large family and the youngest two, were sent away.
