red mail Albert Jones
Albert Jones is my grandfather and I'm wondering if anyone could help me find out what he did during the first World War. He was born on 4th Dec 1886 (parents Nathaniel and Evalina Jones, nee Kingdon) and lived at Dipper Farm, Whitstone, Cornwall. I believe he was in the Devonshire Regiment of the Royal Artillery. I have his dark olive green dog tag which is inscribed 14400429 Pte Jones. A. I also have a badge/brooch with Ypres embossed on it and a cap badge of the Highland Light Infantry, which may or may not be my grandfather's. Albert married Gertrude Noye on 8th April 1920 and they lived at Whitwell Farm, Colyford, Devon from then until they moved around 1943 to Stoneleigh Farm, Moreleigh, Devon. They also lived at Rill Farm, Buckfastleigh before moving to Ware House, Buckfastleigh around 1951. My grandfather died at Ware House in September 1971. I know nothing of his wartime history and would be so grateful if anyone could help.
