red mail BEELEY
I am researching the family of Anthony BEELEY (1731? - 1800) who lived at Stoney Middleton. He had (at least) three siblings - Thomas BEELEY (1720? - 1812), Lydia KITCHEN (1722-?) and Alice POTTER (dates unknown). Anthony was my 5th gg. I am not sure of the dates of birth, but am confident that Anthony's brother and sisters survived him - there seems to have been some chicanery over his will! Any further info welcome - many thanks.
red mail The Young's of Foolow
I have just received the death certificate for William Young of Foolow born 1748. The memorial inscription must have been wrong or was wrongly transcribed as, according to the death certificate, he died on March 27th 1839 at Housley (near Stoney Middleton) aged 91 years. The cause of death is given as “Decay of nature” and the informant was Rebecca Turner,(his married daughter) occupier of Housley, near Stoney Middleton. The certificate is dated 1/6/1839 and is signed by James Chapman Registrar. Another mystery solved- now I have to try and find his birth- which I now suspect may not be in Derbyshire. The family rumour is that the Young’s of Foolow may have come from Scotland… I have no idea how to pursue that one.. any suggestion gratefully received.
