which James Platt?
George Platt of Fairbanks married Ann Wrigley of Shelderslow in 1763; I am tentatively assuming the James Platt born at Lee-cross (neighboring farm to Fairbanks) on 15 July 1764 is their son. Does anyone know who his wife was? Several sources say Betty Hinchcliffe, but their banns record says they both lived at Clough bottom in 1785.

lost on the moors 1806
from a family bible: "On Friday the 7th March 1806 was found dead on the moors between Saddleworth and Holmfirth, Mrs. Ann Platt of Saddleworth age 66. She left hom on Sunday the 26th of January to go and see her daughter at Holmfirth who was expected to be brought to bed, purposing to stay with her...." Ann was the wife of George Platt, clothier of Weakey b. about 1733 d. 1815. Two of her daughters were Betty who married John Whiteley of Almondbury, and Jane who married John Shaw, also of Saddleworth. Betty's daughter Esther came to the US and married Jonathan Chatterton of Honley. Does anyone know the surname of the unfortunate Ann, or anything more about this family?

Winterbottom of Hey Top, Greenfield, Saddleworth
Hello, I am a descendant of Henry WINTERBOTTOM aged 48 in 1841 and Hannah (WHITEHEAD) aged 46 in 1841 who were married 4th January 1821 in St Chads Church, Saddleworth. According to the 1841 census for Hey Top, Saddleworth (HO 107/1279/3) their children were, Mary age 19, Robert age 17, Hannah age 14, John age 12, Henry age 10, Caleb age 7 and Thomas age 5. Does anyone have information about the families of Henry and Hannah (senior) and their children - where they lived or where they married, please? Also in the 1841 census there was an entry for a 19 year old girl called Sarah Quarmby. Do you know who she was or are you related to her?

Vinge - Strines - Saddleworth
I am interested in any information on a George Vinge (b. 1766) of Strines who married Ann Winterbottom (b. 1766) of Roebuck Low at Saddleworth Parish Church in 1786. Ann's father was called John and a witness of the marriage was a William Winterbottom (her cousin?). George Vinge died in 1790 after he and Ann had had a son, John Vinge (b. 1787). Ann remarried in Oldham Parish Church in 1793 to a James Mellor. Ann and James and their children are buried in a grave in Greenacres Congregational churchyard.
