Looking for information on Joseph WARING who married Ann RODHAM at Richmond on 12 June 1832. They had the following children: Jane, born at Gilling on 13 November 1832 and baptised at Richmond on 7 December 1832; James, born at Richmond in 1833; Sarah, born at Richmond in 1837; Mary A (Ann?), born at Richmond in 1842; Hannah, born at Stockton in 1844; Ellen, born at Stockton in 1845; and Emma, born at Stockton in 1849. The baptism register entry for Jane gives Joseph's occupation as 'malt-maker'. When Jane married Thomas COULSON, a ferryman, in Hartlepool in 1853, Joseph's occupation was given as 'brewer'. On his death certificate he was listed as a 'labourer'. Information in the 1851 census indicates that Joseph was born c1805 in Ripon. Joseph died of heart disease at Stockton on 8 December 1855 and his wife Ann died of cholera in Stockton in 1849. At the time of Joseph's death there were a number of children who would have been dependent and I am particularly interested in finding out what happened to them. The eldest child, Jane, had only married a couple of years before, but Ellen ("Helen") is enumerated as living with Jane and her husband in Hartlepool in 1861. James was 18 at the time of his father's death and was probably independent but it's possible the youngest children may have ended up in the workhouse, at least for a while. Does anyone recognise any of these people, pls?

red mail Rogerson
My 2xGreat Grandfather John Rogerson who was an Excise Officer died in Richmond in 1832. He left his widow Mary and three children aged 12,10 and 8. I wondered if there was any reference in the Parish Chest of help given to his widow. I am trying to find out where and when he was born. All I know about him is that he started as as assistant Excise Office in 1803 in Rotherham. Any information or help would be much appreciated. Sheila

red mail Robinson and Craggs
I am looking for information about the family of William Robinson (1776-1845), son of Robinson William Craggs (1752-1815), formerly of The Green, Richmond. William, an ostler at the Unicorn Inn, married Isabella Hind in 1831 but he may have been married previously at least once. Robinson William Craggs was on the Vestry Committee of Richmond Parish at the end of the 18th century. The family became poor during the first decades of the 19th century. William's paternal grandparents were William Craggs, a perukemaker, and Margaret Robinson, possibly from Startforth nr Barnard Castle.
