Punchion Machine in Pontymoile
My great grandfather (Thomas Charles Farr, b. 28 Oct 1859) had a brother Edward John Farr who died on 19 Nov 1866, at the age of 13. His death certificate says the cause of death was "accident from falling within the wheel of a Punchion Machine". The location of his death was given as Pontymoile Paulcague (not sure of the spelling of the second word). Does anybody know of any source of information on Pontymoile at this time or exactly what a punchion machine actually is? I am guessing it is perhaps something to do with a textile mill and might be associated with a weaving loom/machine. Most of his immediate family emigrated to the U.S. (Nanticoke, Pennsylvania) in the early 1880s and were involved in the coal and railroad industries. Any/All sources or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Farr twin girls born 04 January 1845
My 4th great grandfather, William Farr (1801-1875) and his wife Mary Edwards Farr (1803-1845) had The Crown in Raglan in 1841 and he had the Full Moon on George Street in Pontypool in 1851. On 4 January 1845 Mary delivered twin daughters, only to die from complications of childbirth on 13 January. The two girls were Harriet (born at 10 p.m.) and Catherine (born at 11:30 p.m.). Both girls appear on the 1851 census. Unfortunately, Catherine died on 7 March 1856 and was buried on the 13th. That is all the information I've been able to find. If you come across anything or have these people in your tree, I'd greatly appreciate your assistance. Feel free to contact me. I've somewhat accounted for all the other children of William and Mary: Edward John (my 3rd great grandfather), Elizabeth, George William, John Meyrick, Thomas, Mary Sophia, Ann(e) and Jane.

Family of William Henry Farr in Wales
I am hoping to contact somebody who is a descendent of Edward John Farr (born 1830 in Raglan(d), Monmouth) and Mary Edwards. Their children were Alfred, William Henry, Mary S., Thomas Charles, Henry (Harry), Elizabeth Jane, Arthur, Edward John #1(died at 14 from falling into a punchion machine according to his death certificate), Edward John #2, Beatrice, Charles, infant (died at time of John #1's death), and two other "unknown" siblings. One of the children, William Henry Farr (born 1859 in Trevethin/Pontypool), Monmouth, married Elizabeth Jane Evans (born 1834 in Govilon, Monmouth) on 09 September 1852 in Pontypool. Her father was Enock Evans. While most of the family came to the U.S., William H. remained in Wales and married Amelia Phillips, born 1860 in Ebbw Vale. Their children included Amelia, Beatrice, Lilly, Gertrude, and Effie. Two of these daughters were apparently unmarried and lived in Abergavenny until sometime in the 1900s and had a shop of some kind. Is there anybody who knows anything about any of these five daughters of William Henry Farr and Elizabeth Jane Evans? Since their last names would have changed upon marriage, my research has come to an abrupt halt. UPDATE: 18SEP2013-Have recently made contact with a Farr relative in the US who had a photo of the whole family (William, Amelia and the girls). Still looking for any information that may exist about William (a butcher) or any daughter who was a shopkeeper.
