Warren/ Brown/Godby/Godber/Godbore family
I'm looking for info on my maternal family. My grandfather John William Warren was the son of Joseph Isaac Warren & Mary Barbara Pottinger. Joseph was born in Ireland, along with 1 of his brothers (Edward Henry) & 2 other brothers, Francis James & John George, were born in Hawick, Scotland. In 1897, their mother, Ada, re-married Thomas Brown, a miner, back in Nottingham . I cannot trace their father, Samuel Warren, or find a death cert (the marriage cert in Ireland no longer exists, but the church record may). It appears that Samuel was Protestant & Ada had converted to Roman Catholic, a few years before their marriage. If anyone has any info on Samuel or Joseph's brothers or my grandfather John's siblings, I would be grateful. Thanks to Edward's grandson for his info (we're both stuck for Samuel!). Also, any earlier info on Ada. In her marriage to Thomas Brown, she gives her father's name as Joseph Hickling, but the Scottish birth certficates give her maiden name as Godby or Godber & IGI shows Godbore. A recent search of Roman Catholic baptisms for Balbriggan showed an 'adult' baptism for Mary Joseph Ada (or Ida) Godbor & a later baptism for Joseph Warren, son of Samuel & Mary Joseph (of the right date for Joseph Isaac). One of his godparents is a Mary Goabirth & baptism record for Edward Warren shows his mother as Ada Goabirth.Thanks.

red mail Mary Stimpson
Mary Stimpson b1782 married Thomas Crossland b1785, mother Elizabeth Garton b1759. Mary and Thomas had 3 children I think, Harriet, Thomas and Ann. I also believe there was a child Eliza Stimpson born before 1931 but as Thomas Crossland died 1925 not sure if Eliza was older or younger than the 3 Crossland children. If anyone can help with information on Eliza would be fantastic as at the moment she is a brick wall. Ann

MORTON James Nottingham/Durham
Looking for relatives of James Morton who resided at No.9 Stretton Street,Union Road,Nottingham East around the year 1952.It's not known at this time, wether James was married,or had a family. James was born in Gateshead Co Durham in 1913 the youngest of eight children of James and Hanna Morton nee Jackson. Family history tells, that James senior, who was born in West Stanley, left his family in Gateshead and travelled to the U.S. or Canada after his wife Hannah died in 1914,to seek his fortune. He told his children that he would return for them once he was settled. They never heard from him again. It wasn't until many years later that his grandson found out through research that James had returned to England and had gone to live with his son James in Nottingham, and had passed away in 1952. Another family story about James sr.is that his brother Thomas Morton travelled to Canada in 1929 and met up with James in Alberta. After Thomas returned to Durham 6 months later,he lost touch with his brother James.
