red mail Rendel Street & Chapel Court, Newcastle
Mary Armstrong was born in Oxhill, Durham in 1868 and had moved to Rendel Street, Newcastle with her family by 1881. William according to census records was born Newcastle or Kyo. Mary & William were the children of William and Sarah (Wilson) and had two siblings Jane & John who I have traced. I have no record of Mary after 1881 although William later lived at Chapel Court with his parents and possibly Blandford Street, Newcastle where if it is the correct William, he was lodging with a Sarah Jane Robinson.
Hamilton Street, Newcastle upon Tyne
In the 1911 Census the family I am researching lived in Hamilton Street, Newcastle. Would anyone know please if the name of this street changed as I can only find a Hamilton Terrace. Thank you.
red mail Elizabeth (Burrell?) wife of John Symonds
Hi, some fellow descendants and I are trying to find out more about this woman's life in Northumberland. We have the General Quarter Sessions for Northumberland records detailing that she was sentenced in 1813 to be transportation to Australia for 7 years for stealing a silk handkerchief. A Mary SYMONDS, perhaps her sister-in-law, was found not guilty at the same trial. Elizabeth travelled to Australia on the Broxbournebury in 1814 and was assigned to a recently widowed male convict, Isaac DOWSE or DOUSE, to help him look after his children. She became his replacement "wife" as well as nanny. Elizabeth and Isaac had four children together. We would love to know Elizabeth's maiden name but we are all in Australia which makes it difficult to research in Northumberland. There was an Elizabeth BURREL who married John SIMMONS at St John's, Newcastle, on 4 Mar 1798. This would have been in the right time frame. We have two baptism records from All Saints for daughters of this John and Elizabeth (Elizabeth 3 Mar 1799; Anne 8 Sept 1811) which describe the parents as "John SIMMONS, basketmaker, of Morpeth", and "Elizabeth, daughter of William BURRELL maltman of this parish". Her father William might have been born in Morpeth in 1751, then travelled to Eglingham where Elizabeth was baptised in 1772. Any help will be gratefully received as this has turned into a real dead end for us, which is especially frustrating as we have so much source material from the court appearance and later. Thanks, Geoff Turner.
Harrison Thompson
Look for anyone with a connection (if my information is correct) to a marriage of Mary Moran and a Harrison Thompson Newcastle area mid 1930s. Kind regards Michael

Their father was Henry James Richard Scott Ridgewell and he was for many years stationed at Fenham Barracks. Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

red mail Catherine Ford 1869 - 1911
I am trying to find the father of the above person (his name is William FORD), all references I can find for him suggest that he is born in Ireland. I can only find Catherine in the 1871 census as an Inmate in the Union Workhouse Westoe in Durham suggesting she was born in South Shields with who I believe to be her 21-year-old unmarried aunty (a servant in the workhouse) and a 4-year-old George (who I believe to be Mary's son) but then in 1891 Census Catherine is married to a Tom Birkett (my 2x Gt Grandfather) this suggested that she is born in Newcastle upon Tyne

With reference to my previous post I now know that Alexander Jameson's 'wife' was called Carolina Wilson. Still looking for marriage and any information on her prior to the 1861 census in England. when and how she came to England from Bermuda is a mystery. In the 1911 census she is living with Emily Jane NICHOL nee SIDDLE and the relationship is given as cousin.
