My great grandfather, GEORGE FOSTER, emigrated to Australia in the 1860s, married ANN HANNAH MULCAHY 1868. His father was RICHARD, his mother Ann MATE. He had a brother RICHARD who may have been a sailor and drowned in the Bay of Biscay. Does anyone know anything about this family?

red mail Reeves in New Romney
I'm looking to find the parents of George Reeves, b. abt. 1829 or 1830 in New Romney. In 1841 he was living in New Romney with the Kennett family; he later moved to Newington, Surrey and by 1854 was married to Elizabeth (nee Titson) although I cannot find the marriage registration. I have all census details 1861-1901. A Harriet Reeves b abt 1832 in New Romney may have been his sister; in 1841 she was in the Romney workhouse, and by 1861 she was in service in Newington, Surrey. I can find no trace of her after 1861. Any information at all about these people would be greatly appreciated.

red mail Cobb
My Grandfather was Surgeon Lt. Col. Robert Cobb of the Indian Medical Service- Eldest of 5 brothers he was born in New Romney in 1852. According to the College of Arms record for the Cobb's of Kent ref. Surrey 13/185 ( from various visitations by theHeralds to Kent in the 16/17th c.) the family can be traced back to John Cobbe living in 1334 in Newchurch Romney Marsh. This family moved initially to Reculver in the Mid 1400's (cousins in Aldington & Chilham) then from Reculver back to New Romney in Romney Marsh in about 1700 where they lived untill the late 19th c. with cousins in Lydd and Ivychurch from 1702. Interested to hear from anyone with Possible links to this line.
