Neston Cheshire
NESTON. Just high enough to look over the fields to the sands of Dee and the distant Welsh mountains is this little town, which Anna Seward called "a nest from the storm of the ocean."

red mail Any information re: Willaston 'Cottrell' and Neston 'Cross' families
Hi I'm currently researching my family tree on my Mother's side and am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has any connection or any information on the "Cottrell" side of the family. Thomas "Raymond" Cottrell and his wife Elizabeth Emily Cottrell (nee Davies) are my Great Grandparents. At the time of the 1901 census they resided in Willaston (back of Institute) They had four children at that time Arthur (7), Amy (6), Florence (4) baby Ethel (7months) Arthur was killed in action during the Great War (21st August 1918) aged 24. He was an infantryman with the 13th battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment. He is buried at the British Cemetery in the sleepy rural hamlet of Douchy-les-Ayette, in France, close to the Western Front. My Great Grandad Raymond and his wife went on to have a very large family. In 1903, my Grandmother, Nellie Cottrell was born...she later married William (Bill) Cross and they also had a large family. of which my Mum Shirley was one. If anyone has any information to share on either the Cottrell* or Cross families then please get in touch. I would especially appreciate a photo of my Great Uncle Arthur Cottrell who died in WW1 I can be contacted via: Thanks and hope to hear from you.
