red mail William Key Maud
William was born in Newark, 1771 the illegitimate child of a Millicent Maud. Millicent married a William Giles of Lincoln in 1773 and I do not know what happened to her from then on. I think she was born in Blidworth to John and Ann Maud because, John and Ann were living in Blidworth when they applied ,in 1763 for a Settlement Certificate to allow them to move to Newark and at that time, John and Ann had two daughters, Millicent and Ann. John was born in Blidworth in 1739/40 together with a sister born in 1738, his parents were John and Millicent. So it would appear that the Mauds were in Blidworth from at least 1738 to 1763. We do not know who William Key Mauds father was but wonder whether he was a Key due to his mother using Key as his second given name and also due to the fact that ended up in Maplebeck, where he married Alice Hurt, they lived and died there, there are many Keys, or were at Maplebeck
