Brothers: James & David Nuttall
I'm having trouble identifying James and David's mother. James is my 2x grandfather. I know their father was called John. He married his 2nd wife in 1847, at which point he was living in Chorlton on Medlock and working as a labourer. In 1861, John lived in Collyhurst and in 1871, when he died age 64, he lived at High Burton Street Manchester. By 1861, he was working as a watchman. James (my 2x grandfather) was born around 1839/1840 - probably in Manchester but, according to one census entry, in Levenshulme. Based on the only census entry I have for David, he was born 1841/42. On the 1861 census, both James and David are living at home and working as dyers but, by the time he married in the late 1860s, James was working as a carter or lurryman. I can't find James or David - or their dad - on either the 1841 or 1851 censuses. Does anyone have any information about them or this family? I can't get any further with this branch of my family unless I can identify the brothers' mother. Thanks

John Nuttall - watchman - died 1871
John married, as his 2nd wife, Agnes Batty at Manchester Cathedral in 1847. At the time he worked as a labourer and lived at Crossley Street Chorlton on Medlock. Agnes died in 1864 while they were living at Hamilton Street Collyhurst and is buried at Manchester General Cemetery. John died at home in High Burton Street Manchester in 1871 and is also buried at Manchester General. I've not found them on the 1851 census (probably unsurprising as many census records for the Manchester area are water damaged) but from 1861, John's described as a watchman. According to the censuses, John and Agnes had 5 children: ABIGAIL born Chorlton on Medlock 1849, HENRY born 1851/52, MARY JANE born 1853/55, MARGARET ANN born 1857/58 and JOSEPH born 1861. On the 1871 census, Abigail is acting as the family's housekeeper, the other girls are weavers, Henry is a screw maker and Joseph is still at school. But I've no information on any of John and Agnes's children after that. Is anyone researching this line or has come across them? Does anyone have any information about John and Agnes's children? Thanks

James and Margaret Entwistle
I am trying to locate the place(s) where James and Margaret are buried. James was born on the 30th May 1834 in Manchester and died on the 19th May 1906. At the time of his death he was living at 88 North Porter Street in the Ancoats area of Manchester. He was a Master Clogger and had been a clogger all of his working life. His wife Margaret (Nee Wheeler) was born c.1839 in Manchester and died at the same address as James on the 13th January 1889. I am descended from their daughter Ellen who married Samuel Roberts who was born in Oswestry

Frederick Taylor
I am trying to find details of Frederick Taylor. born circ.1876 in manchester? His father was Joseph Taylor of Levenshulme, Manchester. He was the father of Stuart Douglas Frederick Taylor, born 1913 London. Frederick is supposed to have travelled to Africa in March 1913 and died there July 1913. He is named on Stuart's birth certificate but so far no trace of a marriage. Stuart's mother was Muriel Sarah Eliza Gorham nee Raker and lived in Hornsey, London. Legend is that Frederick's family wanted to care for Stuart on the understanding that Muriel gave up all rights to him which she refused to do.

hooley/wilkes
can anyone tell me how I can find out who lived at a certain address in the Bradford district of Manchester in 1939/40? Just one last piece of a jigsaw! Everyone connected with this query has now died but I would like to finalise my family history project I believe no electoral rolls were taken in 1940 but maybe 1938/9.
