red mail Looking for relatives of John Rose MORRISON
My name is Stanley. John Rose was my Great great grandfather. My fathers grandfather's name was John Rose Morrison and lived where the Lochcarron Hotel now stands. I am looking for relatives of mine that are still in Scotland. My father also Stanley, started looking for family and found some in the Lochcarron hotel but then hit a dead end. I am not looking for any stake or claim. Family is very important to us, we would like to reach out and contact any of our distant family still in Scotland.
red mail Mckenzie, George
Hi i am trying to chase my g-g-g-grandfather. George Mckenzie born 1805, Lochcarron, Ross-shire, Scotland. He married an Ann and they had children. Ther names are Ann born 1840, Eliza born 1842, Thomas born 1838, Isabella born 1837 and Allan born 1845. Any information would be greatful. Wanting to know if George Mckenzie had any brothers or children. George was a policeman. Not sure when George died or where he died.
red mail MacGregor/McGregor from Lochcarron, Contin, Lochbroom
John MacGregor is listed as a Ship Owner residing in Jeantown, Lochcarron parish in the 1841 Scottish census. Living with him is his wife Mary (nee MacGregor from Contin, Rosshire) and sons Duncan (4) and William (1). William is my g grandfather. Prior to John's death c.1847, John and Mary have 2 more sons - John and Donald. Mary's father is Donald McGregor from Lochbroom and mother Ann Grant (Fodderty?). After John's death, Mary married Duncan Matheson of Lochbroom but died about 5 years later in 1868. My g grandfather William emigrated to New Zealand prior to 1873 as it was there that he married Elizabeth McIvor of Shulishader, Lewis. I am very interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything of these families, particularly the MacGregor side, or who can shed any light on ship owners of Lochcarron in the 1840s or earlier. John and Mary married in Jeantown in 1828 so it is quite possible that there are more children born before Duncan in 1836. Thank you
