Entries around
red mail Morris & son, Drapers
I am looking for information on the above company thought to be in Knighton, Radnorshire certainly in and around 1860. I am in possession of a bill for textiles from a company in Manchester dated 1860. It would be much appreciated if anyone has any information on this company or Morris names in that area.
red mail Davies, Watkins (nee Lloyd)
I am looking for any information regarding a Walter Davies, my gt grandfather, of Knighton. His father was called Richard and was a farmer. He was 31 years old when he married my gt grandmother Sarah Watkins (nee Lloyd)in 1903. She was born in 1879 in Llangunllo. Sarah was already a widow with a small child, Edwin when she married my gt grandfather when she was 24 yrs old. We believe Walter was killed in a lorry accident in ?1936.
red mail Louisa Burgess
trying to find out what happened to Louisa Burgess born 1880 to James Burgess and Ellen Lelloe in Knighton, Radnorshire. By the 1891 census Ellen had died and Louisa is living with an aunt and uncle - Richard and Mary Bird - in Knighton. In the 1901 census Louisa is living in Ludlow as a servant to Herbert and Ida Groom. James remarried in 1900, settled near Builth Wells and had five more children. There is a photograph of James and his family taken about 1920/1 and includes a woman we think may be Louisa. She may have gone to live in Swansea, does anyone know what happened to her.
red mail James Frederick MEREDITH
I am seeking information about James Frederick MEREDITH born C1828 at Knighton, Radnoshire. I believe James' parents were James MEREDITH and Mary GRIFFITHS. James Frederick MEREDITH was a purser on ships sailing between Liverpool and New York around 1850. He married Margaret Priscilla ROBERTSON in 1850 at New York and eventually settled in Victoria, Australia.
red mail Brights of Knighton, Beguildy, Felindre
William Aaron Bright is my great grandfather. He was born June 1886 in Knighton. His eldest son, William, my grandfather, was born 1909, Felindre, Beguildy. Any further back I do not know. Aaron, as he was known, later worked at Llanfair Hall in Llanfair Waterdine and he lived until his death in Leintwardine.
