Grange School , Banffshire , Scotland
Accident to Schoolboy at Grange On Monday afternoon at Grange , an accident happened to a boy Urquhart , son of Mr. Urquhart , Manager , Garrowood , belonging to Mr. John Geddes , Portknockie. The lad was a pupil at Grange School. It seems that the children had been tobogganing on a steep field adjacent to the school , and the sledge gathered considerable momentum on its passage down the slope , until it was intercepted by a gate post , and which dislodged the occupant . The injured boy was taken to the Schoolhouse , and kindly attended to by Mrs. Burns until the arrival of Dr. Taylor from Keith. On examination it was found that the pelvis had been severely injured , and Doctor Taylor considered it best to remove the patient to the Turner memorial Hospital , Keith , for treatment, which was done in the course of the afternoon. - Aberdeen Weekly Journal , Aberdeenshire , Scotland Friday 02 February 1917

URQUHART in Grange
My Urquhart folk seemingly occupied 'Shiels Croft' , around 1915 / 1916 ......The croft was situated somewhere near Knock........Knock is the pronounced conical hill , at the eastern extremity of the Parish of Grange. , reaching 1,412 feet.......The Urquharts subsequently lived at 'Garrowood' , also in the Parish of Grange.............The name 'Garrowood ' lives on in the form of a house there ... Whether it is the one previously occupied by my Grandparents , I would like to know. ......Apart from a house called 'Garrowood ' , it is interesting to note that the former Grange railway-station became Garrowood Hotel ... It incorporated a post-office.......The current situation and set-up is however unknown to me.

red mail Burns family
My Grandfather James D burns was a choir master in Grange at I believe the Presbyterian Church WHITE..and a teacher, possibly headmaster at a school in what I knew as the village of Grange. around about 1900 My grandmother Alexina, my mother Ella Irvine Dallas Burns, her brothers James and Fred lived there. My mother went I believe to Keith grammar School. Mother was born 1900. I hope to visit the area very soon the first time since a small child during the early war years. Another memory is of alady who lived in the village called Janet Ritchie with whom I corresponded during the early 60's then lost contact. Any help please?
