red mail Walker farmers
I am interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about the Walker family in Goldsborough. I have found several individual families and would like to understand how they all fit together. Key members of the family are Robert Walker b 1809, who married Alice Clemesha (or Clemishaw) and had a large family livng and farming at High House Farm. Amongst their surviving children were Henry (moved to Tickill farm Plompton) Sarah (married Samuel Gomersall), Mary, Frederick, who moved to Bradford) and Robert (Also know as Clemishaw and inherited High House Farm). Robert's father, I believe but have not proved, was also a Robert Walker, b 1773, also married to an Alice Walker (maiden name unknown) b 1790. He was also a farmer - though I do not know which farm in Goldsborough. I also believe he had at least two brothers, William b 1820 and John, a blacksmith, b 1817 and a cousin called William Walker b 1800. There is also a John Walker running the Bay Horse pub up to about 1820, married to Elizabeth with at least a son called Robert and a daughter called Elizabeth. After his death Elizabeth married Thomas Dickinson, who took over the running of the pub. I do not know how this Walker family is related to the others. Any information gratefully received
