red mail Lethems of Glasgow & London
Does anyone know anything about descendants of James Lethem (sometimes spelt Leatham) c 1776-1842? and Agnes Allan or Allen c1796-?, originally from Glasgow. On 1841 Scotland census they had children James 1823-, Ebenezer 1825-, Mary c1827, Agnes c1831, John c1833, Alexander 1836 She remarried to John McFarlane (1851 census). Ebenezer & Alezander went to London - Edmonton, Barnet, Islington. Ebenezer married Annie Williams Ballantyne & had a daughter Catharine 1862. Alexander Mcknight Lethem married Alice Costley Hobbes, and had children Alexander Hobbes Lethem 1870, Annie Mabel Lethem 1873, and Alan Mellin Lethem 1876. What happened to them? Also whether they are all descended from Matthew Lethem & Ann Watson & related to Lethem muslin firm in Glasgow. Also possible link with Lethem Bros & Mellin, import & export. Thank you
