red mail Annie JOHNSON nee CRABB
I'm looking for information about the parants and other family members of Annie Harriett Whitford JOHNSON nee CRABB. She married Frederick JOHNSON (Labourer in R.N. Dockyard and Private in Army Reserve) in Stoke Damerel, Devon on 09 Apr 1887 and when their son Rodney Edgar JOHNSON was born on 22 Jun 1893, they were living at 50 Queen Street, Devonport. "Annie Harriett Whitford JOHNSON nee CRABB" is the name shown on Rodneys birth cert, but I can't find "Whitford" on any other document and I have no idea where it came from.

red mail CLAVIS
Interested in information from anyone with this surname in their tree. My ancestor THOMAS CLAVIS born about 1765 appears here in 1841 census. One of his sons, William, moved up to Lancashire and I know there is a Clavis line in the West Derby district, but he had other children who stayed in Devon I think, and I would be interested to hear of any descendants of theirs.

red mail Charles Bayne Hodson Ross
Ross died in Devonport in 1849. However I'm trying to trace his birth. He was born about 1776/7. On his marriage certificate, his father is named as William Ross, gentleman; so far I've not found any entries to go with this information. Charles was a Rear Admiral and some sites say he is descended from the 12th Lord Ross; again I have been unable to trace this link. Can anybody help?

I would like to hear from anyone descended from Andrew Stephens who lived in Devonport around a century ago, and who married Emma Adams at Stoke Damerel in 1883. Their (known) children were : Florence (1885) ; Andrew (1887) ; Ernest (1890) ; Harold (1892) ; Stanley (1895) ; Gladys (1899). Andrew was born in Chatham in 1857 and possibly had a shop in Devonport in later years. Family lived in Monument Street in 1901 although Andrew had died by then. they had a son named ANDREW JAMES STEPHENS. There was later a shop in Devonport called Andrew Stephens and I wondered whether there was a connection.

William was born in Devonport in 1868. Wife's name was Elizabeth Silley Edwards. He was recorded as 'clerk of works' in 1891 and as 'advertising manager' in 1901, though what of, I have no idea. Last known address was Stuart Terrace, Stoke, Devonport, in 1901. Known children were Florence (c.1892); Winifred (c.1894) ; William (c.1897) and Hilda Emily (1901). Is anyone descended from this family please?

red mail Margaret Nichols
Looking for info on Margaret Ann Nichols, (born c 1828) who according to UK 1841 census was an inmate of Torrington Union Workhouse in Devon aged 13yrs. Believe she was an orphan and that her parents were Thomas Nichols and Ann Tremlett. In 1853 she emigrated to Australia on the Malvina Vidal age 24, listed as General Home Servant. Unsure if she was sponsored or not Unable to find any info on her movements in Australia until 1854 when she supposedly married Robert Cundy a former convict. Robert and Margaret are my Grt Grandparents. Any info much appreciated Roger
