The History of Clare Village near Tandragee
I have recently written a book entitled 'The History of Clare - the People, the Place and the Presbyterians'. At over 600 pages, it is an indepth story of the village of Clare (near Tandragee) and other neighbouring townlands within the Parish of Ballymore. The book contains lists of names dating from the 17th - 20th centuries, eg. tenants who settled during the Plantation of Ulster (early 1600s); List of Dissenters (1775); tenants of Manor of Clare (1700s); seatholders, lists of contributors of Clare Presbyterian Church (1800s - 1900s). The section which concentrates on Clare Presbyterian has samples of birth and death records. I have access to the church records - dating back to 1825, which I have used in the past to help folk with tracing ancestors. The section on 'the Place' is more of a social study of the ordinary people of the village dating back to the 1600s - Clare Volunteers, the school children, women, farmers, etc.. A large amount of maps dating back to the 16th century have also been included. Jennifer
