Christchurch in 1944
I am trying to find who lived at 12 Avon Road West, Christchurch in 1944. My husband, Lionel John Dennett, was born in Lymington but his mother, Vera Dennett, stated on the birth registration that she lived at 12 Avon Road West, Christchurch. She already had one illegitimate child so I do not think she would have lived there alone. The 1939 Register shows all the houses that the enumerater recorded but no number 12!! However StreetView does show a number 12, a lovely old house, so it was definitely there and I am really confused!! Nobody seems to be able to help me except to say I should look at the 1945 electoral roll (first one after the war) and nobody is too sure where that is. I have not been able to find a local historical society so am a bit of a loss of how to find this information. I live in Canada. Does anyone have any ideas/can help me with this. Thanks. Lesley

red mail Seeking Rosanne Woodford-Grimes
I am seeking information on Rosanne Woodford-Grimes, b. 1921, d. 2005. She was the first wife to my grandfather, Cecil Albert Thompson, b. 1912, d. 1997. They married in 1940 in Christchurch, Hampshire. They had a son, Anthony Keith Thompson, sometime before WWII as Cecil went into the war and moved to Canada with my grandmother in 1946 after they got married. I cannot find a divorce or annulment record for Cecil and Rosanne and am interested in finding their son, Anthony. Thanks.

red mail Hawkins Breaker (Braker) & West Families
Ancestor Henry HAWKINS likely born in Christchurch area (Iford possibly) in 1828 with possible links to families named BREAKER (BRAKER) and WEST. Could be the Henry listed in 1841 Census living with Dinah Hawkins. Family history says he sailed out of Poole in 1846 to Newfoundland where he married Alice MAIDMENT. They had 11 children. One of the children was named William Breaker Hawkins. Henry died in Twillingate Newfoundland in 1905. Looking for connections.

red mail 1794-Robert Bannester of Tayneham?, Christchurch
I would like to find the location of the area or town of Tayneham, possibly, Fayneham, Layneham, or Sayneham which was part of Christchurch in 1794. The first letter of the name of this area of Christchurch is difficult to read. My ancestor,Moses Sandy, made a will leaving some things to his nephew, Robert Bannester of Christchurch Tayneham in Hampshire. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Variant Bannister

red mail Jacob Wilkins
I have the 1841 marriage cert of my 3xg grandfather William Wilkins to Charlotte Vine. The Vine family are fairly well documented back a few more generations but I'd love to know more about the father of William Jacob Wilkins - yeoman.
