Madin family
I am researching the Madin family of Chesterfield. The earliest Madin I can find is Herbert Madin, born around 1825, but I know very little about his parentage, except that his mother may have been Elizabeth Madin and that Herbert himself was illegitimate. Can anyone help?

Looking for descendants of Irish immigrants John & Ellen Cannon who came over from either Co Galway or Co Mayo in 1850's. They settled in Staffordshire first (had relatives there we believe). Their sons John & Patrick became miners there, John marrying Mary Ann (not sure of surname) and Patrick marrying Fanny Marsden, then both brothers moved to Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We have lots more details of this large family from there to present day, happy to exchange information with anyone else researching Cannons.

Fining - John James and Emily
Twins John James and Emily Fining were born in Brampton, Chesterfield in 1920. They were the firstborn children of my great-uncle James Fining and his wife Catherine (nee Hayes) Sanderson. John James served in the army for many years, then worked at Birtley Engineering in Chesterfield. He married and had 2 children. His sister Emily had a son Terence before her marriage to Walter Knowles in 1943, they went on to have 3 more sons: Patrick, Harold and Melvyn. If you also have connections with this family I'd love to hear from you

I'm looking for info on these two names in Chesterfield Derbyshire in 1880's - 1920's. They're connected to my family tree, but as yet I haven't figured out how! There's very little information anywhere on the internet on Fining so I presume it's an unusual variant of a more common name. Can exchange what info I have with other researchers for these names. March 2010 - Have made lots of progress on this family - I now know that the Fining or Finan name has connections with the Barnsley area too. Other family names I now have are Marsden, Lowe, Mee, Berridge, Kelley, O'Neill.

red mail George Mompesson Heathcote
My gt-grandmother Hannah Paulson (b.1833) was brought up by her sister Elizabeth and Elizabeth's husband: George Mompesson Heathcote. They lived at The Villa, Newbold, close to the little, old chapel. George was a direct descendant of William Mompesson, the Rector of Eyam, the plague village.

red mail Joseph Cooke
Hi everybody. I'm looking for a Joseph Cooke , born about 1820 to 1830 living in or near Brampton Moor. My great grandfather, Charles Stubbs, was born there in 1851. His mother was Frances Stubbs but no name is given for a father on his birth certificate. When he married in 1880 he gave his father's name as Joseph Cooke. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

red mail Joseph Jones, Chesterfield and Stockport
Joseph Jones b 1882 was my grandfather. He married my grandmother Charlotte Elizabeth Taylor in 1905. Their only child to survive infancy was born in 1913. Charlotte remarried in 1916. Marriage certificate stated she was a widow. I am unable to find exactly when and where my grandfather died. He may have died in Chesterfield or Sheffield but could have in WW1. I have been unable to find any records. My grandmother remarried twice, first to a Garner then to a Boler.
