Entries around
Lovatt/Brennan
My g/g/grandparents John LOVATT and Ann nee BRENNAN lived in or around Chatham in the 1850s/60s. John, born at Newport Pagnell, Bucks, in 1809, was a private in the 37th Regiment until discharged about 1851, then appears to have been an officer's servant. Ann was born in Co Tipperary in Ireland about 1810 in a village called Monroe (I understand there are at least 5 such places and I don't know which one she came from). They may have met when John was posted there but seem to married about 1840-3. Known children of this couple were John born about 1844 , Sarah (my g/gmother)1847, James 1849 and Thomas 1850-John born in Sunderland and the others all in Chatham. I'd like to know when and where this couple were married and also when they died, and /or any other information.

Somers/Tricker/ Worthington
Trying to trace Elsie Tricker via her grandson's surname Somers first name unknown. Grandson's wife is Jacqueline and it is believed that they had twins born in Poole hospital c2002. If anyone can put me in touch with this family I would appreciate it. Mr Somers' Grandmother Elsie M Tricker has a cousin who has lost touch with her and would like to re-establish contact if Elsie Tricker (born c1918) is still alive. The family were believed to be living in Cosham in WW2. Elsie's husband Jack A Tricker, a naval man, died in 1951 in Chatham. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

red mail John Meek, Clerk at Fort Pitt, Chatham
I am trying to find out a bit more about my 3 x Great Grandparents John and Mary Ann Meek. I have no proven details for them but I know that John was described as a Clerk at Fort Pitt on the baptism of their daughters, Mary Ann (B 1811), Elizabeth Massett (B 1814), Sarah (B 1817), Charlotte (B 1819) all baptised at St Mary's Chatham together on 5 July 1820. There was also a son, John Meek born 1820 who married Harriet Usher in 1839 in St Mary Newington and they were my 2 x Gt Grandparents. John was a Police Officer. I have a possible marriage between John Meek (senior) and Mary Ann Inment Brayley (B 1789) on 21 August 1808 in Dover but other people researching the same family have him as marrying Mary Ann Norwood in 1806 in Marylebone. Both these marriage records are Banns so there is no other information to prove which is correct. As John was working at Fort Pitt at the time of his children's births, I find it more likely that he married in Dover than in Marylebone. I would appreciate any help with finding out more about him.

red mail Daniel and Julia Sullivan and Ellen, Jo(h)anna, Michael and Margaret
I need help please with my Sullivan family. Daniel (b abt1831) and Julia (b abt1834) were born and married in Ireland. They had Ellen b abt 1847 and (Jo(h)anna b abt 1851 in Ireland (maybe Cork). Michael was apparently born in Sunderland about 1853, and Margaret was born in Chatham in 1859. I've been unable to find a birth for Margaret. I've ordered so many incorrect birth certificates, but the parents are wrong. The family was Catholic, and I've not found a christening record as yet either. Daniel was a labourer, I think he worked on the docks. Can anyone help? I live in New Zealand so I'm restricted to online research. Many thanks.

red mail James Watson, late of Chatham Kent
I'm seeking info on James Watson (born abt 1816) and Ann Elizabeth Woods, a milliner (born 1819 in Parsonstown). They were married at Kororareka (now Russell) in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, in 1841. In the newspaper announcement of his son's marriage in Australia in 1875, James is described as "late of Chatham, Kent". The same announcement says the son, George, is "the nephew of James Rolleston of St Kilda, Parsontown Ireland".
