BENNETT, Enniscorthy, early 1800s
Hi, I would be very interested in hearing from anyone researching the name BENNETT in Enniscorthy or nearby. My great, great grandparents were Samuel and Esther BENNETT. They, and their six children, Jane, Martha, William, Richard, Leonard and Thomas emigrated to Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania) in October 1836. They were agriculturalists and gardeners, residents of Enniscorthy, and members of the Church of Ireland. I believe they may have lived in Templeshannon in 1834 (from Tithe Applotment records). I have reached a dead end with this family and would dearly love to be able to trace Samuel and Esther's Irish roots. There is a possibility (not confirmed) that they could be the Samuel BENNETT and Esther CARROLL who married in Ossory, Leinster, in 1815. Their first child, Jane, was baptised in Enniscorthy in 1816. I have not been able to find birth/baptism records for the other children, but the family were definitely resident in Enniscorthy in 1836 when they emigrated. There is also a possibility that the name WHEELER may be connected, as the eldest son, William, used the name William Wheeler BENNETT in Tasmania, as did his son. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might have information or suggestions. Kind regards Heather, Australia

PHELAN of ENNISCORTHY, WEXFORD
Seeking details of ANN PHELAN born c1846, daughter of PATRICK PHELAN. I have no other details of her parents or family but know she was born in Enniscorthy. PATRICK PHELAN had died by the time ANN got married in 1867, but whether that was in Ireland or England, I do not know. Sometime prior to 1867, ANN had travelled to England and she married in London in that year.
