red mail Miss Williams Bath 1918
I have very little to go on however maintaining hope that someone will read this one day and know instantly as ro whom it could have been in the "Williams" families in Somerset Bath 1918.This year is important as it was the ending of the war and the outbreak of a fy epidemic. A "Miss Williams" took a consignment of approximately 10 paintings to Chrsities Auction House in London, of which approx 4 were returned to her - she may have gone form Christies too Sotherby's with the returned paintings of they may have remained in the family. One of these paintings made it out to New Zealand of which my parents purchased over 35 years ago at a deceased estate auction - Perhaps if someone knows a connection, perhaps Miss Williams herself moved to New Zealand. I am trying to trace the geneology of a painting and being In New Zealand is very difficult. The miss williams i am searching for may not have married, therefore she could have been an aunt to nieces/nephews in the Williams family. I am guessing she must have been a notable woman in 1918 to even have a consignment of 10 paintings with her. I would deeply apprecaited anyone being able to provide any information they may be of help. I am also considering using the local Bath newspapers to see if that brings any connections out of the woodwork! Thank you
red mail Enos & Charlotte (nee Johns) Humphreys
I am searching for the village and ancestors of Enos (b.1790's) and Charlotte (nee Johns, b. 1794) Humphreys (Humphrys) who emigrated from Somerset county to America in 1832 & 1833. Enos & Charlotte had three children born in England: Enos (b.1823), Seth (b. 1827) and Augusta (b. 1831). Enos emigrated to Wetheredsville, Maryland, USA in 1832, and who, being a wool-dyer most likely worked in a cloth mill in England. Charlotte emigrated to American in 1833 with the six children; Jane, Caroline, Edwin, Enos (age 9), Seth (age 7) and Augusta (age 2) to join her husband Enos. I am interested in communicating with anyone who has knowledge of this family in England.
red mail Cuffs of Bath
I am trying to ascertain if the Thomas Cuff of Ilton who married Charlotte Dill in Bath in 1820 was the brother of John Cuff who married Eliza Dill (Charlotte's sister)in Bath in 1830. John Cuff always gives his place of birth as Somerset but with no particular place named. John was a widower of the parish of All Saints Poplar when he married Eliza and I am looking for details of his first marriage which may well also have taken place in Bath. Any help at all much appreciated.
red mail Nation
Looking for Maria Nation B 1835 Married Joseph Dalton 1855 Pontifract
I am searching for my Gt. Grandmother Eliza Nowell born 1841. The 1881 census says she was born in Taunton but no record of her birth there. I know there were a lot of Nowells in the Bath area and if anyone is researching their ancestors of Nowells, would be grateful if Eliza rings any bells with anyone.
