Parish registers for Barnard Castle
Please can anybody tell me where I can obtain parish registers for BARNARD CASTLE for the period c1720 -1760. are they available on C.D.? also are there any local historians or family history historians with a good knowledge of this area for the period I am interested in who may be able to direct me to other sources whereby I can obtain info about a particular family, who I am hoping is the correct one for me. John Pybus ran a school at Barnard Castle circa 1800 - 1820 ish. He was born 1776 at Masham, married Mary White at Hackforth in 1798 and was in B Castle by about 1800. He then moved to West Boldon near Sunderland. Any information about Pybus during his time in Barnard Castle welcome.

Looking for information on the Smedley family who lived in Barnard Castle around 1800. Ezra Smedley was born in 1800 to George Smedley and Mary Stephenson who married on 15 July 1784 in Barnard Castle. Ezra married Isabella Guy on 19 Mar 1825 in Barnard Castle. They had at least 8 children, one of whom was my gt gt grandfather Henry Smedley, a shipwright, who eventually moved his family to Poplar, London
