red mail WEBSTER
I am searching for details of my gt grandmother Alice Webster born around 1870 in Manchester but living either in Matlock or Bakewell. There is no father mentioned on her marriage certificate in 1904 but her father is recorded as George and deceased at that time. No father is mentioned on her birth certificate but mother's name given as Mary Ann Webster. Family memebrs believe that she had 2 sisters in the Matlock area. There is an Alice Webster in the 1881 census in Bakewell Workhouse aged 10yrs and born in Manchester. There are no other Websters named in the workhouse at that time---did her mother die or did she marry and is no longer called Webster meaning the 2 sisters would be step sisters with a different surname. Does anyone have knowledge of this Alice or the sisters. In 1911 census she is also called Alice Agnes. I would be so grateful for any help as I keep hitting brick walls. Thank You
