red mail Family Crest for the Watson Family in Bowdon
I have found a crest for a branch of the Watson family. The Griffin holds in its beak a rose branch (leaved) with a single six-petaled rose. It is sufficiently similar to the crest for John Watson of Whitney Terrace, Bowdon (as shown in Fairbairn's Book of Crests, 1905 Ed.) that I consider the possibility of a connection. The crest was placed in a book indicating it to be the possession of a Watson family. The book was published 1846. Any information regarding the family that owned the book would be welcome.
Altrincham in 17C and 18C
Please, is there a knowledgeable local historian who could give me an idea of what Altrincham was like in 17C and 18C? I have found forebears who came from Bristol but lived in Altrincham. I have JOSEPH VIGOR who was baptised in Bowdon in 1656. The Vigors were a Quaker family. His father had come from Bristol but had married a widow Dorothy Jeanes nee GLEAVE of High Leigh. Any ideas of the size and importance of Altrincham in those days would be hugely appreciated.

red mail looking for descendants of Will and Martha Anderson
Will went to America and was murdered in either Honolulu or San Fransisco - depends who told the tale! Will was my great uncle, he was the son of William and Caroline Anderson, and was born in 1865 in Hackney. He married Martha Ann Wells in 1885 in Market Harborough. They had six children, William, Rober tand Frederick born in Ardwick, Edgar born in Market Harborough, Lillian born in Longsight and Thomas in Ardwick. In the 1901 census Martha and children were living in Altrincham. My grandmother, Ada, was the youngest and spoke of her brother going to America and being murdered - I would love to find out more.
