red mail WILSON June and brother John
Trying to find information about June and her brother John Wilson born about 1945 who lived at Captain's Grounds or Captain's Table Cottage Altarnun around 1960
My great-grandmother was MARY ANN WHALE (born 1865 in Islington) who married ALBERT HOLMAN in 1884 in Altarnun. Mary Ann Whale's parents were Edwin Whale and Mary Ann Hawke, both of whom were born in Altarnun around 1837. For some reason, they moved to London and were married in Clerkenwell in 1862. They lived in Islington and I don't believe they returned to Cornwall. They had 7 (maybe more) children (one of whom was my great-grandmother Mary Ann Whale)and all these children were born and lived in Islington. However, by the time of the 1881 Census Mary Ann had moved to Trewint, Altarnun and was living with Ann Strout, described as her Aunt, who was 68 and a tailor's widow. I am just wondering why Mary Ann left London, and which side of her family Ann Strout was related to. Even, on an off chance, whether Ann Strout may possibly have been Mary Ann's grandmother Ann Hawke, who had been widowed when aged approx 29 after her husband Francis Hawke, a tailor, died in 1845, and may have married again??. I'd be grateful for any information about any of these members of my family. Thank you
My great-grandfather was Albert Holman who was born in Altarnun in 1865. His parents were George Holman, born 1815 in Egloskerry and Betsy Smith, born 1820 in Laneast. Her parents were Richard Smith born Laneast 1785 and Mary Mutton born 1796 Altarnun. Albert Holman married MARY ANN ?HAWKE? from Islington, London, probably in 1880s. They moved from Altarnun to Pendrift in Blisland at some point, and had 11 children, including my grandmother, Phyllis Hawke Holman born at Blisland in 1904. I don't know much at all about my great grandmother, Mary Ann ?Hawke? (I'm assuming surname is Hawke because my grandmother Phyllis has this middle name) and would be grateful for any info. Regards, Sue
