I have a marriage certificate for James Johnstone, son of William and Ann who married Isabella Harrison on 12th Sep 1879 in Neilston. Her mother's maiden name looks like Hamilton. Can anyone give details of her and her family and was that the correct name? I should appreciate some help in this matter.

red mail Carswells Of Neilston Parish Renfrewshire.
Carswells have been tenent farmers in & around Neilston for many centuries. Timothy Ponts 1590 hand drawn map of Renfrewshire shows the farms Nether Carswell, Karswell & Craig of Neilston. Records show that my family farmed at the Craig of Neilston from 1717 to 1878 . In 1845 Allan Carswell b.1814 at Lonefoot farm moved to Cheshire with his family. I would be interested to exchange information with descendants of this family.
