red mail William Ferguson b.1841 occ:Brickbuilder Govan
I'm trying to trace William Ferguson born 27 Jun 1841, Gorbals, married 16 Feb 1871 to Margaret Muir (born 3 July 1845 Govan) and their two sons Robert (born 1872, Govan) and James (born 1873, Govan). Have found no further trace of this family. Also trying to find out what happened to Williams sisters Janet (b. 1827) and Mary (b. 1838) have tracked them as far as 1861 to Govan (Census). I'm a descendent of another sister Elizabeth.
red mail ALEXANDER GARDINER Renfrewshire, County of Renfrew, Siorrachd Rinn Friù (County, Scotland)
I am trying to get some clarification on ALEXANDER GARDINER (born 30/4/1774 in Port Glasgow, Renfrew). His parents were Alexander Gardiner and Janet McKinlay (no dates). I am looking for a ALEXANDER GARDINER, born around this time, who was an educated man, and was in MOSCOW around 1808. He travelled to St. Petersburg, Prussia, Turkey, amongst other places in this area. He wrote a manuscript called Augustus Gollman with Sketckes of Life, Manners and Characters in Russia. I have a great grandfather, SIR ROBERT MAY GARDINER (1819-1887) (not to be confused with Sir Robert William Gardiner) born in Nova Scotia and died in Fulham. His father was DAVID GARDINER (1786-1827), who was Scottish and went to Canada in 1811. I hope to find out if my family is the same one as the Gardiner/McKinlay family.
red mail THOMSON Govan
I am searching for the death certificate of my great grandfather, William THOMSON. William was born 23 Oct 1870 in Paisley, Renfrewshire to James THOMSON and Agnes MCCREE. He became a widower in 1907 after the death of his wife Elena in Paisley. He was residing at 5 Harmony Row in Govan, Lanarkshire in 1923. He was a witness at his son's wedding in 1925 at Leeds, Yorkshire. The city directory in 1927 has him still listed at 5 Harmony Row, Govan. I tried ScotlandsPeople but too many Thomson's listed as his mothers maiden name was not recorded. I have reached a brick wall and hoping someone can help me find when and where William Thomson died. Regards, Glenda
