Shortt - Steele from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary
I am looking for any information regarding a Jane Elizabeth Steele (1816-1891), whom I understand married her cousin, Richard Steele Shortt (1815-1869), in the Diocese Of Ossory, Leinster Province, Ireland in 1837. Richard Steele Shortt's sister, Anne Shortt, married Edward Kittson on 17 July 1849. Jane's father's name was Robert Steele and he died on 23 Feb.1833. Her mother's name was Jane Roe (or Rowe) and she died on 2 May 1858. Jane had an Uncle John Steele, who died in Jan.1867, an Uncle Robert Roe, who died 21 May 1868 and her eldest sister, Marianne Steele, died 9 Jan.1866 in Dublin. Richard & Jane Shortt & family from Nenagh, sailed to New Zealand on the ship John Temperley, departing Gravesend on 9 May 1865, arriving in Auckland on 30 Aug.1865. Their five daughters were all born in Ireland:- (1) Eleanor Hearn Shortt (b.1846) married William Whitehead on 2 May 1972, (2) Jane married Louth Bycroft on 11 Mar.1875, (3) Annie (Minnie) Robena died 6 Jun.1896, (4) Georgina Sarah (b.1852) married Captain John Hardiman 4 Feb.1867 and (5) Emily Suzanne married Mr Hazlitt. Do any of these names have a connection with your Shortt or Steele family trees?

red mail Kellys of Nenagh
I am looking for information about my ancestors. Denis Kelly born 1779 approx., his son Patrick, born about 1801, his son Denis Kelly born in 1825-28, lived in Nenagh and around Nenagh. They were farmers. Young Denis came to New Orleans in about 1850. He moved to Memphis and brought old Denis and Patrick there in 1860. Family history says they all moved to Whiteside County, Illinois to avoid the Civil War. From there, Denis married a Joanna Coffey and eventually they moved to Chicago around 1865. I know no relatives in Ireland left behind and I don't know the names of the wives of old Denis and his son Patrick.

red mail Power / Mc Grath families. Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland
I am a descendant of Ellen Power, believed born in Nenagh about 1862. I believe her parents were John Power (Farmer) and Bridget Power(McGrath). I believe she migrated to Australia about 1886-87. From the 1901 Irish Census I believe her parents were still alive, living with their daughter(Maryanne) and son-in-law (William McGrath). If anyone has any info which would help with the family background this would be greatly appreciated.
