red mail Info on Mary Ann Hevers from Ballymote 1837
I am searching for family history on my great, great grandmother, Mary Ann Hevers. From oral family history, she was born July 3, 1837, her mother died during childbirth, her father abandoned her and she was raised by her (presumably) maternal grandparents. I found a ship manifest showing a Mary Hevers leaving Sligo in 1852, traveling with an Honor Hevers, age 62. I have fairly detailed USA history from her marriage in 1856 to her death in 1925, but would like to find out about parents, grandparents, etc. including potential relatives in Ballymote, Sligo county or Ireland.

red mail Matthew Phibbs - Ballymote 1861
I am trying to find a connection, if any, with my Phibbs family line and Matthew Phibbs (aged about 26) who was hanged for the brutal murders of an elderly couple and their servant in Ballymote Sligo. I haven't been able to find anything on his parentage, other than his father died about twelve years before (1849), or any ancestral line. Can anyone help? Jacqui

red mail Finn/TaaffeFinn - Ballymote
My grandfather, Patrick John Finn or Taaffe Finn, was born in Ballymote in about 1866. He must have left Ireland in the early 1890's as he qualified to be a doctor in Edinburgh in 1895. I have trace him from that time, but have been unable to find his exact date of birth. If anyone can help find this date, I would be grateful.
red mail McDonagh's of Sligo, Galway
Hello, I am desperately trying to find clues about my paternal great-grandparents. My Grandfather, John Patrick McDonagh is believed to have been born in Galway around 1888 (according to his death certificate). He married Mary Duffy at Keash, Sligo circa 1920. I would welcome any clues as my year long search has proved totally fruitless.
red mail Dodwells of Ballymote
Researching Dodwell family from Rock Ferry, Wirral, Cheshire, but discovered James Dodwell, source of much of later family in England was born 1827 in Ballymote Sligo, and indeed his father before him, James Dodwell born approx 1800 and was a farmer. Now, there seem to have been some rather 'well to do' Dodwells in Sligo, but not sure they're the right branch of my family.. as we seem to have been mainly publicans, not landed gentry! Does anyone have any ideas about this.... I've hit a blank wall with research.. is Dodwell in England an anglicised version of another similar irish name? I feel a trip to Ballymote coming on, to discover more. Help! Many thanks

red mail Monaghan Family
My g.g/m Dorathea Monaghan was born abt 1865 in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, Ireland. She came out to Australia on the "Duke of Westminster" in 1884 to visit her Aunt, Uncle & cousin in a place called "Welcome Waterhole" near Cooktown, Nth Qld. But in 1887 on the 11th October in Cooktown, she married George Richard Beckerleg Dunstan. The M.C records Dorathea a Spinster age 22yrs and a Dressmaker, her father were Farrell Monaghan, Doctor of Medicine and mother Ellen Murphy. George was a Labourer aged 24yrs, his father was George Richard Dunstan, a Farmer and mother was Mary Ann Beckerleg from Cornwall, England where George was born in 1863. A Family story that has been handed down is that Dorathea and her siblings were "raised" by Nuns having not real home life, hence her reason for leaving Ireland.
