William Baker, a mariner, married Ann Metcalf in Liverpool in 1850. They had a son John Matthew Baker (b Liverpool in 1851- died Llanfairfechan Wales in 1930). John had 'two brothers and two sisters who were succesful in the bakery trade at Mossley Hill, Liverpool - and only one son between them '. Possibly William and Ann split up and William had these later children by another wife. Has anyone any ideas of what became of them. In the 1851 census Ann and John are at Kent Place, Stone Street. William is marked 'husband at sea '
