William Thomas Horton was born at Brierley Hill in Staffordshire, His
father was William Plant Horton, he married Lucinda Whittaker at the
Parish Church, Quarry Bank, Staffordshire, on the 11-9-1898.
By 1902 they had moved and were living at 15, Edwards Terrace, Pentwyn,
South Wales.
William went to work at the Deep Navigation Coal Mine at Treharris.
He had 8 children, all born in Wales .
He also had a brother John Caley Horton, that migrated with some of the
family to Auckland, New Zealand in 1880 at the age of 7 .
He Died 1942.
Buried at Beachgrove Cemetery, Edwardsville, Nr. Treharris, South Wales.

John Caley Horton migrated to New Zealand 21st November 1880, at the age
of 7 .
He departed London, and Arrived Auckland, New Zealand on the 4th of March
The ship was the"Earl Of Granville", Captain Campbell was the master.

John was the elder brother of William Thomas Horton.
Their father was William Plant Horton, m. Ann Maria Barker

Ann Maria Horton, nee: Barker Died at the Age of 28. death registerd at
See Volume 6c, Page 107, June Quarter, 1876.

Died after childbirth, 8 days. after birth of above.

Thomas Horton arrived on the ship "Maraval, 1257 tons, Arrived Auckland
16 Jan 1879, Captain RAMSEY" master.
Thomas was the first of the HORTON family to arrive in New Zealand
On Waitemata County Council for 12 years, retired from Council 1911.
Member Albany Fruit Growers Association.
Lost both legs in chainsaw accident at Monks Sawmill, Mercury Bay.
He ran the mail between Dairy Flats and Birkenhead for 16 years.
Celebrated Golden Wedding 1930.
