Seeking information on John Wilfred RATCLIFFE bc 1866 Loose or Dover son of Isaac RATCLIFFE bc 1813 Canterbury and his wife Charlotte bc 1817 Kennington. Isaac was a retired Inn Keeper. John Wilfred was a House Painter living with his brother, Henry, 29 a Plumber at Church Road, Pembury, Kent in the 1881 census. March quarter 1890 he married Emma Amelia BACHINI - Registration 16 380, Islington. 1891 census they were living in a boarding house 3 - 6 Wellington Ct, Hastings and Emma's name is recorded as Elena, aged 23, occupation, Hawker, while John is recorded as a Brick Layer. However, in 1901 John is recorded as a House Painter living at Pembury and his wife is Susannah nee KEMP - their marriage is Dec 1891 at Tunbridge but his name is only recorded as John without the "Wilfred". Is this the same person? They have children Allen J aged 8, Beatrice 7 and Percy 5. I have the marriage certificate for John Wilfred Ratcliffe dated 5th October 1908, Register Office, Westminster on which he is recorded as being aged 42 years, bachelor, house painter of 124 Sandringham Buildings, Charing Cross Road, London so Isaac Ratcliffle, deceased, licensed Victualler to Louisa WOOD, 31 years, spinster of same addresses daughter to Thomas Wood Dec'd, farmer. Louisa was a sister to my great-grandfather. Can anyone confirm all these John RATCLIFFE's are the same person? His age tallies with each census and the marriage certificate.
