Wayre Family
My Wayre family first appear in York, Yorkshire in the 1750's. The family is started by William WAYRE of York, and Anna Maria DRURY of Nottingham. Their son James Drury WAYRE, born in York in 1782, married Martha DOWNHAM in London in 1828, and was previously a merchant seaman. James Drury WAYRE founded the family group living around Waterloo, Lambeth with many children from two marriages. It is a rare surname, invariably misspelt, and is my mother's maiden name. I have put together most of the families so I am interested in contacting any other cousins who might know more about the family.
