Lt. Lewis Richard Denning, R.F.A. (Spec-
Res.), attd. A./88th Bde.
For conspicuous gallantry and leadership
in an attack at Malplacquet on 8th November,
1918. He reconnoitred a forward position
for an advanced section, bringing up his guns*
to within 500 yards of the front line, whence heopened
fire on enemy machine guns over open
sights. On the Fame day he found a bridgeby
which he got the guns across the river
Hogneau, all the other bridges having been*
blown up.

And relinquish the temp, rank of Capt.: -
Lt. R. P. S, Denning, Bedf. and Herts.
