Ann Grant who marries Reverend Walter Morison in May 1765
Their marriage says: Mr Walter Morison Minister of the Gospel at Fort George (in the parish of Ardersier) and Miss Anne Grant in this parish were contracted and were married May 6th, 1765. the record doesnt indicate parents but Walter was the son of another Reverend Walter Morison and Elizabeth Ker. Ive got the Morisons down completely. Anns more of an enigma. There are multiple Ann Grants Ann Grant father Lewis Grant 1739 Inveravon, Anne Grant father William 1735 Inveravon and lastly Anne Grant father John 1736.
Naming patterns would imply shes the daughter of Lewis Grant and Margaret but the family dont seem to stick to naming patterns. Anne waits until her last son to call a child Walter even though her husband and his father are Walter and shes turned out multiple sons already. Im also hesitant about the Lewis one because it seems that Lewis Grant is a titled noble and I dont get why the daughter of titled nobility would marry a priest of a rural parish and spend the rest of her days in relative poverty. Lewis Grant and Margaret Ogilvie who married October 1735 were a baronet and the daughter of one and it just seems strange that if my Ann Grant is their daughter she would marry a military chaplain rather than some aristocrats son. Lewis and Margaret also have most of their children in Edinburgh so again I dont know why Ann would return to Inveravon when her parents moved to Edinburgh.
