I believe that James Cullen, baptized in Daingean 17 August 1836, was my great-grandfather, who later emigrated to the US around 1860, served in the Union Army in the US Civil War, and raised a family of 7 children in New York City.
His parents were listed in Daingean as John Cullen and Margaret Rourke (sponsors were Thomas Rourke and Margaret Rourke), and my great-grandfather's parents were listed on his death certificate in the US as being John and Maggie Cullen.
John Cullen and Margaret Rourke were married 1 March 1829 in Daingean, and had other children, including John Cullen (born 1832), Margaret (born 1845), and Michael (born 1850) who were married in and/or had children in Daingean. John Cullen was baptized 31 May 1796 in Daingean, and his parents were John Cullen (senior) and Bridget Gorman.
I already have the baptismal and marriage records mentioned. Any information about the Cullens, Rourkes, or Gormans would be appreciated, and I can supply information about some US and Irish descendants, if desired.
